When Kathleen and I first started dating, I asked her out to dinner and a movie (clichéd I know). I chose a foreign film, Paris, je t’aime hoping I could fool her into thinking I was sophisticated and cool. Not sure that really worked, but the film turned out to be pretty good. Actually, it is several short films mashed together, which was perfect since it provided a ton of good conversation fodder for the rest of the evening.
But for our third Mystery Date, dinner and a movie wouldn't really cut it . . . would it? I had been to this great restaurant, Foreign Cinema, previously for work and the food was outstanding. However, the intimate setting lent itself to a "je ne sais quoi", better ambiance for making doe eyes with a romantic partner rather than poker eyes with a business partner. So I made a mental note to come back with someone special when the time was right.

So when I started researching and planning this Mystery Date, I serendipitously discovered Foreign Cinema was going to play our first movie, Paris, je t'aime. Mon Dieu! So I immediately booked a reservation and dropped tons of French movie hints in the week leading up to the date.
Kathleen had been wanting to try this place for awhile, so she was pleasantly surprised when we rolled up and found out we were dining at Foreign Cinema. The cherry on top was when she finally looked up to the big screen and realized what movie was playing! "Wait a minute . . . didn't we see this movie before?" We had some really good laughs reminiscing about our first few dates that evening. And as far as the food goes, my god that was another good meal!
