Trust me. You need me to knead you. |
Chris and I were back in the midwest for a couple of weeks for a good friend’s wedding. We started in Chicago and drove to Stoney Lake, MI, then Grand Rapids (where the wedding was), and then to East Lansing, home of Chris’ alma mater Michigan State University. (Go Green!) It was great to see all his old haunts and take a trip down memory lane while he recounted stories from yesteryear.
This was definitely Chris’ show as we toured around the town, met up with old friends, and enjoyed the hot Michigan nights. In the back of my mind, I recognized the month was winding down and I was on the hook for a Mystery Date! We had a good tradition going — and I didn’t want to jeopardize that. The month of June was slipping away, and I had to act FAST.

While bouncing around downtown East Lansing, I spotted a cute little spa with a sign in the window, “Couples Massages”. BINGO! What better way to unwind while on vacation than a couples massage?!
I grabbed Chris’ hand and led him into the spa. “Nice one, KP!”. Great, he was on board! Without question, this has been my most impromptu date and I can certainly say luck was on my side!

Couples massage is just as it sounds — two people getting a massage at the same time. That’s it.
We left feeling nice and relaxed and ready for what the rest of our trip had in store. Mackinaw Island was up next, then the Upper Peninsula, and then down through Milwaukee, WI back to Chicago. Overall, it was a great road trip vacation and we talk about doing it again. I’m so happy I had the chance to surprise Chris in a place he knows well. Maybe someday we’ll be back for round two!
