“I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of the life to start as soon as possible." | Mystery Maker: Kathleen Date: 4/28/2010 Location: Land's End, Sutro Baths & Cliff House, San Francisco, CA |
Being engaged was one of the most exciting times in my life. I was thrilled to be spending my life with Chris and wanted to celebrate every chance I got. I decided to use the next Mystery Date as a on opportunity to do something romantic and chill. After all, there was no way I was going to top the biplane!
Lands End, a beautiful ocean side trail, was on my short list of places to visit and this seemed like a good opportunity to play the “long walk on the beach" card. The trail winds along the bluff top, in and out of cypress groves with an ocean view to eternity. Sutro Baths, remnants of what was once the world's largest indoor swimming pool at the turn of the century, offer another opportunity to take in the history of San Francisco. But the real star of the show is the Golden Gate Bridge right there in front of you. The majesty of that bridge never gets old.
Just steps from the hiking trail, we headed to dinner at an SF classic: The Cliff House. Dinner at the Cliff House had always seemed too formal (read: adult), but hey, we were ENGAGED! Why not!
We ate dinner while watching a spectacular sunset over the Pacific. Chris and I never run out of things to talk about but now we had a new topic of conversation to explore — WEDDING PLANNING. Perhaps the Cliff House was a good place for a rehearsal dinner?

A mellow hike and dinner out were the perfect follow-up to the twists and turns of a bi-plane engagement. Our 6 year wedding anniversary is around the corner, perhaps we should go celebrate with a sunset hike and spectacular crab cakes at the Cliff House?
