Little did I know at this time that Mystery Date would eventually become a central part of my life with Chris. All I knew going into this was… I lost a bet… and I wanted to plan a killer date!
For Chris’ first mystery date, he caught me completely by surprise (duh!) with a unique and creative date. He was thoughtful, clever and tailored this uniquely to me. Not everyone wants to spend the day looking at flowers and gardens!
One of my favorite venues is the Greek Theatre at UC Berkeley.

I knew Chris hadn’t been there and so I wanted to introduce him to this stellar outdoor concert venue. When I saw James Taylor was coming - BINGO - my first mystery date came to shape! Let the planning begin...
On the way to the concert, Chris was thrown off as we wound our way through the hills of Berkeley. “Are we going to dinner?” he asked. “Maybeeeee…” I replied. The guesses kept coming, but I knew he was stumped.
Walking up to the venue it was clear that we were headed to a concert, but what concert? We saw young and old, friends and couples, straight and queer. . . at one point, Chris asked, “Are we going to the Indigo Girls concert?” Good guess and I could see where he was going with that. (By the way, very few men would be excited by an Indigo Girls concert, yet another reason why I love my renaissance man — he’s not afraid of anything and he’s got a music collection to knock your socks off!)
JT went on to play an excellent set and tell some awesome stories of a few of the song origins. If you like his music, we recommend you definitely check out one of his live shows (Mystery Date optional).
It became pretty clear sitting at the top of the venue, cold beer in hand, listening to live music, that we were on to something good…
